Deep Meaning · English
In this profound declaration, Krishna transitions from the role of a friend and charioteer to that of the Absolute Reality (Brahman), setting the stage for his 'Vibhuti Yoga' or the revelation of his divine manifestations. By stating that even the Devas (celestial beings) and Maharishis (great seers) cannot fathom his origin, Krishna is asserting his transcendence beyond the limitations of cause and effect, time, and space. He is not merely a historical figure or a localized deity; he is the 'Anadi' (beginningless) cause of all that exists. For the seeker, this verse serves to dismantle the intellectual pride that often hinders true devotion. If even the highest cosmic administrators and the most enlightened sages of antiquity cannot grasp the 'how' or 'why' of the Divine, the finite human mind must abandon the arrogance of categorization and instead surrender to the mystery of the Infinite. This shifts the focus from an objective, analytical study of God to a subjective, experiential union. By claiming to be the origin of the gods and sages, Krishna establishes a hierarchy where he is the substratum (Adhisthana) upon which the entire tapestry of existence is woven. Understanding this is not an invitation to cognitive frustration, but an invitation to humble adoration, acknowledging that the source of all knowledge is Himself the Unknowable One who reveals his glory only through the grace of devotion.
True spiritual wisdom begins with the humble acknowledgment that the Divine source of all existence transcends the reach of human intellect and cosmic hierarchy alike.
