Under Me, as supervisor, Nature produces the moving and the unmoving; therefore, O Arjuna, the world revolves.

Deep Meaning · English

In this profound verse, Krishna reveals the mechanics of existence, clarifying that while He is the source of all, He remains the silent, transcendental witness. Prakriti, or material nature, is inherently inert; it requires the 'gaze' or the conscious presence of the Divine to become animated. Krishna describes Himself as the Adhyaksheṇa—the Overseer—who does not need to physically labor or interfere with the laws of nature to drive creation. Like a magnet that moves iron filings without moving itself, or a light source that illuminates the stage without becoming the play, Krishna’s mere presence acts as the catalyst for the cosmic dance of birth, existence, and dissolution.

The universe is a dynamic, self-evolving system of matter activated not by a distant clockmaker, but by the silent, omnipresent conscious witness who is the substratum of all that exists.
