Deep Meaning · English
In this verse, Krishna reveals His ontological status as the singular, non-dual substratum of all existence. By declaring Himself the source (prabhava) and dissolution (pralaya) of the entire cosmos, He elevates the seeker’s perspective from the fractured world of names and forms to the immutable consciousness that sustains them. The phrase 'etad-yonīni' points to the two Prakritis—the lower, material nature and the higher, conscious life-force—both of which emerge from His singular Will. This is not merely a statement of creation, but a revelation of identity: the world is not separate from the Divine; it is a manifestation of His potency, vibrating within Him as a wave vibrates within the ocean. For Arjuna, this is a pivotal instruction to look past the surface level of conflict and duty. Krishna is inviting him to see the inherent divinity within all beings, thereby dissolving the dualities of 'friend' and 'foe.' When a practitioner understands that every atom and soul originates from and dissolves into the same divine Essence, the ego—which thrives on separation—naturally begins to subside. This shift is the foundation of both true wisdom and surrender, as the devotee realizes that their own life and all surrounding circumstances are contained within the infinite grace and power of the Supreme.
All existence is an inseparable manifestation emerging from and returning to the singular, divine Consciousness of the Lord.
