Deep Meaning · English
In this verse, Arjuna moves beyond a simple desire for information; he expresses a profound longing for 'Darshan'—the visual and intellectual recognition of the Divine in the manifest universe. By requesting that Krishna describe his 'divine opulences' (vibhūtis), Arjuna is asking the Lord to unveil the hidden tapestry of reality. He acknowledges that while the world appears as a collection of fragmented, mundane objects, it is in truth a vibrant, interconnected manifestation of Krishna’s own being. This is the shift from seeing the world as 'matter' to seeing it as 'spirit' in action. Philosophically, Arjuna touches upon the nature of immanence. He realizes that Krishna is not merely a localized deity residing in a celestial realm, but the underlying substrate that 'pervades' (vyāpya) all existence. To see the world through the lens of vibhūtis is to engage in a meditative practice where every beautiful, powerful, or exceptional aspect of life serves as a pointer toward the Infinite. For the seeker, this verse is an invitation to transform perception: to move from a state of seeking God elsewhere to recognizing the Divine presence within the very fabric of the cosmos.
True spiritual vision begins when we learn to recognize the infinite majesty of the Divine manifesting through the finite forms of the world.
