यत्र योगेश्वरः कृष्णो यत्र पार्थो धनुर्धरः। तत्र श्रीर्विजयो भूतिर्ध्रुवा नीतिर्मतिर्मम।।18.78।

Wherever Krishna, the Lord of Yoga, is; and wherever Arjuna, the wielder of the bow, is; there is prosperity, victory, happiness, and a firm policy; this is my conviction.

Deep Meaning · English

In this moment of terrifying grandeur, Krishna reveals himself not merely as a charioteer or a friend, but as 'Kala'—the relentless, all-consuming force of Time. This is the metaphysical realization that God is not only the sustainer of life but also the architect of dissolution. By declaring Himself the destroyer of worlds, Krishna strips away Arjuna’s egoistic assumption that he is the primary agent of this war. The battlefield is revealed as a stage where the Divine Will has already concluded the outcome; death is not an interruption to reality, but an inherent rhythm of the cosmic order. For the seeker, this verse serves as a profound meditation on surrender and detachment. It teaches that the outcomes of our struggles, relationships, and existence are ultimately held within the cosmic cycle of time. Krishna is teaching Arjuna that his hesitation arises from the illusion of doership. By seeing God as Time, Arjuna is invited to transcend his limited, mortal perspective and align his actions with the cosmic flow. It is a call to move beyond the fear of loss, acknowledging that what is destined to perish is already passing through the hands of the Infinite.

When we recognize God as the unstoppable flow of Time, we are liberated from the burden of our ego-driven anxieties, realizing that we are but instruments in a cosmic unfolding already complete.
