Deep Meaning · English

In this verse, Lord Krishna reveals Himself as the foundational essence of all structures—linguistic, temporal, and creative. By identifying as the letter 'A', the primordial sound from which all speech originates, He signals that He is the substratum of manifestation. Just as every phonetic articulation is incomplete without the vowel 'A', the entire theater of the universe is hollow without the presence of the Divine. His identification with the 'Dvandva' compound, which balances opposites equally, reflects the non-dual reality (Advaita) that holds the tensions of worldly existence together in a perfect, unified whole. Furthermore, by declaring Himself the 'endless time' and the 'all-faced creator' (Brahma), Krishna transitions from the subtle structures of language to the macrocosmic scales of evolution and entropy. He is the relentless flow of time that both constructs and dissolves, and He is the creative intelligence that faces every direction, witnessing and sustaining the cosmos simultaneously. This perspective is designed to shift Arjuna’s vision from seeing isolated objects to perceiving the underlying Godhead, helping him realize that the Divine is not distant, but inherent in every mechanism of existence. The seeker is invited to see that the very tools used to conceptualize the world—language, time, and creation—are manifestations of the One Reality, intended to lead the mind back to its source.

Krishna is the fundamental ground of being, present as the source of language, the relentless passage of time, and the creative intelligence that breathes life into the universe.
