Arjuna said, "O God, I see all the gods in Your body, as well as hosts of various classes of beings, Brahma the Lord seated on the lotus, all the sages, and the celestial serpents."
Deep Meaning · English
In this pivotal moment of the Gita, Arjuna’s vision transcends the limitations of human sensory perception. As Krishna grants him the 'divine eye,' the distinction between the observer and the observed begins to dissolve. Arjuna perceives not merely a physical form, but the ontological reality that the entire universe—from the high celestial deities and the creative intelligence of Brahma to the foundational energies represented by divine serpents—is held within the singular consciousness of the Divine. This is the collapse of duality, where the macrocosm (the universe) is revealed to be contained within the microcosm of the Lord’s form. It teaches the seeker that nothing exists outside of the Divine; all beings, whether exalted sages or primitive life forms, are merely expressions of the One Supreme Reality. This realization fundamentally shifts Arjuna’s perspective from one of a separate individual caught in personal conflict to one who understands that every being he encounters is an integral part of the Divine body. The vision serves to dismantle the ego's limited scope, forcing the seeker to acknowledge that every action performed in the world is, in truth, an interaction within the singular expanse of God. It is a profound surrender of the notion of 'otherness,' leading directly into the state of surrender (prapatti) required for selfless devotion and action.
True spiritual vision reveals that the entire diversity of the manifested universe is non-separate from the singular, infinite consciousness of the Divine.
