Deep Meaning · English

In this verse, Bhagavan Krishna reveals the ultimate destination of the practitioner of Yoga. By 'niyata-manasaḥ' (a disciplined mind), the practitioner is not merely engaging in mechanical concentration, but is actively reorienting the consciousness from the ephemeral, shifting nature of the material world toward the immutable Self. The term 'nirvana-paramam' signifies a peace that is not the absence of disturbance, but the absolute cessation of the cycle of becoming—a state of 'extinguishing' the egoic fire that creates the illusion of separation. It is the final homecoming, where the flickering flame of the individual soul merges into the infinite, steady light of the Divine. Krishna emphasizes that this peace is 'mat-sanstham,' meaning it rests within His own Being, indicating that the goal of all meditation is the realization of non-duality between the devotee and the Lord. The yogi attains this not by escaping the world, but by becoming established in the source from which all worlds emerge, thereby achieving a perpetual state of divine stillness amidst the flux of existence. This is the transition from 'doing' yoga to 'being' the embodiment of the Ultimate Reality, where the seeker, the meditation, and the Divine become one harmonious vibration.

True peace is the eternal, silent resting of the disciplined mind within the Supreme Consciousness of the Divine, which signifies the final cessation of egoic bondage.
