Deep Meaning · English
This verse represents the profound theological bridge between the Absolute (Nirguna Brahman) and the personal Divine (Ishvara). Krishna is not merely describing a historical intervention, but revealing the cyclical nature of cosmic order (Dharma). When the collective consciousness of humanity drifts away from the alignment with universal truth, the Divine manifests not as a separate entity entering the world, but as the inherent essence of reality reclaiming its own balance. This is the mystery of the Avatar: the Unborn taking birth, the Immutable appearing to act, all to restore the rhythm of spiritual evolution. From the Advaita perspective, the 'Self' (Atman) being 'manifested' by Krishna is the descent of pure consciousness into the realm of form. It highlights that the Divine is not indifferent to the suffering of existence but is the constant corrective force. For Arjuna, this is a call to realize that his participation in the righteous struggle is not an ego-driven act but an alignment with the very impulse of the Divine, which seeks to uphold the framework of Dharma so that the path toward self-realization remains open for all beings.
The manifestation of the Divine is a rhythmic necessity of cosmic love, ensuring that the path of righteousness remains accessible whenever the world loses its way.
