Deep Meaning · English
In this profound verse, Krishna delineates the diverse psychological and ethical temperaments that animate all living beings, attributing their very origin to His own divine essence. He asserts that the dualities of human experience—virtues like non-violence, equanimity, and charity, alongside the societal outcomes of fame and infamy—are not random occurrences, nor are they merely products of material conditioning. Rather, they are diverse manifestations of the Divine will, arranged to facilitate the play of the cosmic drama. By tracing the source of these varied 'bhavas' (states of being) back to Himself, Krishna invites Arjuna to look past the superficial diversity of personalities and behaviors, urging him to see the singular Divine consciousness vibrating through the multifaceted spectrum of human experience. This realization is foundational to both the Advaita vision of non-dual reality and the Bhakti path, as it allows the seeker to treat all circumstances and all types of people as expressions of the Beloved, thereby transcending the narrow ego that judges and resists reality. As Arjuna prepares for the conflict of the battlefield, this teaching serves as a crucial spiritual anchor, reminding him that the entire theatre of life—with all its noble aspirations and ignoble struggles—is essentially a divine arrangement emerging from the Supreme.
All diverse qualities and fates in the world are but varied pulsations of the Divine source, revealing that the Supreme Presence is the hidden substratum behind every human condition.
